About EM Pottery

EM Pottery grew out of a lifelong love of clay, creativity, and a little bit of serendipity. Emily McConnell first discovered pottery in her Oklahoma City high school art class, taught by Steve McConnell—who, years later, would become her father-in-law. She didn’t know it then, but sitting at the wheel would spark a passion she’d return to time and time again.

After briefly studying art in college, Emily spent 15 years as a kindergarten teacher, helping young learners explore imagination, color, and joyful mess-making. Through it all, pottery remained quietly in the background, waiting for the right moment to take center stage.

Now based in Savannah, Georgia, Emily has returned to clay with fresh energy and a playful spirit. EM Pottery is her collection of small-batch, handcrafted ceramics—pieces that embrace organic shapes, subtle quirks, and the beauty of being perfectly imperfect.

Every item is made slowly and intentionally in her studio, shaped and glazed by hand. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, and that uniqueness is part of the magic.

At its core, EM Pottery exists to bring a little joy into everyday rituals—whether that’s a favorite mug, a vessel on a windowsill, or a bowl that makes dinner feel just a bit more special.

Thanks for being here. Emily can’t wait for her pieces to find a place in your home and your story.
