know the artist
Emily McConnell has always believed the best creative journeys begin with a little serendipity—and hers started in an Oklahoma City high school art class. Her pottery teacher, Steve McConnell, would later become her father-in-law, but at the time he simply introduced her to clay, sparking a passion that never left.
Emily briefly studied art in college with a focus on ceramics before spending 15 years as a kindergarten teacher, encouraging young students to explore creativity with curiosity and confidence. After years of helping others create, she felt inspired to return to the craft she first loved.
Now living and working in Savannah, Georgia, Emily creates EM Pottery: a collection of playful, functional pieces shaped by her love of storytelling, her classroom-honed patience, and an enduring belief that art should bring joy into everyday life.
